TL;DR: What's new in Epom DSP 8.8?
- Guided 5-step setup: Campaign creation is now one sequential flow — General, Audience, Price & Optimization, Budgets, and Traffic Source.
- Quick Setup wizard: A simpler, objective-first mode for launching fast, sitting on top of the full Advanced setup.
- Everything in one place: Build audiences, set budgets, and choose traffic sources inside the flow — no jumping between pages.
- Live summary + safeguards: A real-time summary panel and unsaved-changes prompts keep you oriented and protect your progress.
- New Help Center API Reference: An interactive API documentation hub for your developers.
- Nothing to redo: Existing audiences and budgets were migrated into the new structure automatically.
Setting up a programmatic campaign in a DSP could ask a lot of you up front — open the audience page, jump back to pricing, cross over to budgets, then go hunting for traffic sources. If you came from Google Ads or Meta, where you pick an objective and go, a demand-side platform could feel like a different language entirely.
Epom DSP 8.8 rebuilds campaign setup from the ground up. Creating a campaign is now a single guided flow of five clear steps, with everything — audience, budget, traffic sources — handled inside it.
There's a Quick Setup wizard for fast, objective-led launches, and the full Advanced mode for experienced buyers who want every control. Same engine underneath; two ways in.
Scroll on to see how the new flow works, step by step.
Campaign Setup, Now A Guided Five-Step Flow
The old setup spread the job across several pages. The new flow walks you through creation one stage at a time, and each step must be complete before you can move to the next — so nothing important slips through the cracks.
The goal behind the redesign is deliberate. We want the platform to feel familiar to everyone, regardless if you switch from Google Ads and Meta, where campaign setup is simple and objective-based, or start a campaign for the first time in your life. You get the guardrails of a guided setup without giving up any of the depth underneath.
Two Ways To Build: Quick Setup Or Advanced
Quick Setup (the wizard) is a simplified, guided path that sits as a controlled layer on top of the full setup. It's the fast lane — ideal when you want to launch quickly, or you're newer to programmatic and would rather not face every control at once.
Advanced mode is the complete, full-featured setup experienced buyers already know, with every option exposed and nothing hidden.
Because both run on the same underlying setup, you're never boxed into one. The wizard simply tucks away the complexity you don't need in the moment — the depth is always there when you want it.
The Five Setup Steps, One At A Time
The flow moves through five steps in order, and each one must be complete before the next unlocks. Here's what you set at each stage — and what it looks like.
Step 1 — General. Name the campaign, drop it in a folder, add tags, and choose your ad format. This is the one gate you can't skip: without it, the flow won't let you continue.
Step 2 — Audience. Build targeting right here in the flow, or reuse a saved audience from your library. By default the audience is campaign-specific; tick “Save Audience for reuse” to keep it in your library (more on this just below).
Step 3 — Price & Optimization. Split into three parts. Pricing: pick a model (CPM, CPC, or Dynamic CPM) and set a default price, with a recommended figure based on your ad format, geo, and device.
Auto Optimization: link or create bidding rules and bid modifiers without leaving the flow, and set a max bid as a ceiling. Optimization: choose your fraud-risk filter, set up conversion tracking, and link any PMP (private marketplace) deals.
Step 4 — Budgets. Set flight dates (they default to start now, run ongoing, in UTC) and choose Total, Daily, or No limits, with even pacing available on total limits. You can add more than one budget to a single campaign, and the view hides ended budgets by default.
Step 5 — Traffic Source. Choose which SSP endpoints (the supply partners that send you traffic) to include or exclude. Leave it empty and the campaign simply uses all available traffic. Then Save, or Save & Add Creatives to jump straight into building creatives.
💡 Key point: Audience, budget, and traffic-source setup now all live inside the campaign flow — the three things that used to send you page-hopping are handled without ever leaving the screen.
Build Or Reuse Audiences Inside The Flow
By default, an audience you build during setup is campaign-specific: it's created when you save, it doesn't clutter your Audience library, and it doesn't even need a name. Want to keep it around? Tick “Save Audience for reuse,” give it a name, and it lands in your library for future campaigns.
There's also a “Use as Template” option on any saved audience. It copies all of that audience's targeting into a new campaign-specific one so you can tweak freely — the original stays completely untouched. It's the quickest way to reuse a proven setup as a starting point.
Targeting options are grouped so the screen stays manageable, and only the most-used groups show by default. The six visible groups are: Geo (geo position, geo-fence, and custom locations), Traffic (traffic type, device type, OS, browser, and language), Date & Time (day/time scheduling and user-local time), Connection (connection type, carrier, ISP, and proxy type), Content Categories (taxonomies), and Retargeting (segments).
The less-used options — Demographics, Stores, Ad Placement, and Extra Filters — sit under Advanced Settings, out of the way until you need them. Which of the rarer options appear at all is controlled by permissions, so Super Admins can tailor what each role sees.
Editing A Live Campaign Safely
Editing follows the same flow, with a few sensible rules so a live campaign can't be disturbed by accident:
- Saved audiences open in read-only view with the audience pre-selected; the name is a link that takes you to the full Audience editor.
- Delivering budgets are read-only — a running budget can't be edited mid-flight.
- Unsaved changes trigger a clear “Keep Editing / Leave” prompt if you try to switch tabs or exit, so progress isn't lost.
- Campaign owner is shown when the campaign was created by someone else and user sharing is enabled, so it's clear whose work you're in.
A Live Summary Panel Keeps You Oriented
A live Summary panel runs down the right side of the screen through all five steps, updating in real time as you go — campaign name, folder, ad format, pricing model, audience settings, and more. There's no scrolling back to check what you set three steps ago; it's all visible at a glance.
Audience Migration Rules
Because audiences now live inside the flow, every existing audience is migrated for you when 8.8 rolls out — based on how it's currently used across your campaigns. You don't rebuild anything, but it's worth knowing exactly what happens to each one.
💡 Key point: If an audience is reused across two or more campaigns, it always stays in the library, unchanged.
Here's how each audience is handled:
| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| An audience linked to one campaign only | Becomes campaign-specific and is removed from the Audience library. |
| An audience reused across two or more campaigns | Stays in the library, unchanged and still reusable. |
| Two or more audiences on a single campaign | Merged into one, named “A name & B name (merged)”. Before merging, the system checks for conflicting targeting; if a clean merge isn't possible, the audiences stay linked to the campaign for now. |
| An empty audience not linked to any campaign | Deleted from the library — no longer visible anywhere. |
| An empty audience inside a multi-audience campaign | Archived after the merge (merged with the others, then archived). |
A few targeting types also change direction in the new flow. Existing conditions are converted automatically — you don't need to touch them:
| Targeting | What changed |
|---|---|
| Device Type | Now Include-only. Existing Exclude conditions are converted to the equivalent Include. |
| Day & Time Schedule | Now Include-only. Existing Exclude conditions are converted to the equivalent Include. |
| Proxy Type | Now Exclude-only. Existing Include conditions are converted to the equivalent Exclude. |
| OS | Unchanged — both Include and Exclude stay. Version-based conditions are too complex to convert without data loss. |
| Browser | Unchanged — both directions stay. Minor versions can't be reliably mapped. |
A New Interactive API Reference Hub
For teams that integrate with Epom programmatically, 8.8 adds an interactive API Reference hub in the Help Center: clear method descriptions, every parameter documented, request and response samples, and auth details, all in one place. It turns “read the docs and guess” into “copy, adjust, run.”
Also In This Cycle: What Shipped In 8.7
Version 8.7 landed just before this one, with a set of infrastructure and safety upgrades worth a quick mention:
- Multi-DC tenant — new tenants can run across two data centers (US and EU) at once, so European traffic is served from the EU region for lower latency and better reliability. Available for new tenants only.
- AdScan creative scanning by GeoEdge — every creative is automatically scanned on creation, update, or activation. Anything flagged for malware, phishing, or policy violations is auto-disapproved and kept out of bidding, and scanning can be toggled per account.
- Targeting and permissions cleanup — targeting options and analytics filters now stay in sync (what you can target, you can see in reporting), with new Connected Device and Set-Top-Box permissions and tidier defaults for new roles.
- Budgets migration — legacy limits were retired and moved to the current budgets structure.
Put Epom DSP 8.8 To Work
Epom DSP 8.8 makes launching a campaign feel less like assembling a machine from loose parts and more like following a clear path — five steps, everything in one place, with a wizard when you want speed and full depth when you want control.
